Live PreView vs Reverb product photos and prerecorded demos
Product photos and prerecorded demo videos are useful when shopping for music gear. A Live PreView lets you ask the seller to show the exact instrument or gear live.
Product photos and prerecorded demos
- Photos of the listing taken by the seller
- Prerecorded demo videos, sometimes of the same model rather than the exact unit
- Written condition notes and specs
- You can't ask a recorded video a follow-up question
A live, buyer-directed viewing
- See the exact listed item on real-time video
- Ask to see wear, the frets, the electronics or the serial number area
- Ask the seller to play or switch it on so you can hear it, where they're able to
- Ask questions as you watch
Limitations of a live viewing
- Sound through a phone or laptop is not the same as hearing gear in the room.
- Video quality depends on lighting, the device and the connection.
- A live view shows what the person on the other end chooses or is able to show; it is not an expert inspection or appraisal.
- It does not guarantee condition, authenticity, availability or that you'll be satisfied with a purchase.
Availability
A live viewing depends on the seller choosing to take part. Not every Reverb seller participates, and PreView does not guarantee that a seller will accept a request.
